Stars has returned with a third track from their upcoming album, The North. The first two tracks, “The Theory of Relativity” and “Hold On When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It,” were led by Torquil Campbell.
“Backlines” is the first track from the album with Amy Millan (also of Broken Social Scene) at the helm, and the short, two-minute track is the best one yet. It’s not as lofty as either of Campbell’s tracks, but still packs a lot of music. The synths take a bit of a backseat to Millan’s guitar, and her voice is absolutely beautiful.
The North is out September 4 via ATO.
