The Breeders’ Kelley Deal needed something to do while her sister, Kim, was busy with the Pixies reunion, so she put together a new project with Ampline’s Mark Montgomery. The duo is calling themselves R. Ring, and their debut 7″ is coming out this fall.
The a-side of the single, “Fallout & Fire,” has the feel of a lo-fi home recording. The clean acoustic guitar is matched with the low hum of an electric one, but both guitars and Deal’s vocals are crisp and clear.
The “Fallout & Fire” b/w “See” 7″ comes out on October 30 via Misra Records.
