OMBRE – “Tormentas”

OMBRE - Believe You MeHere’s another new song from OMBRE — the collaboration between Helado Negro and Julianna Barwick.

“Tormentas” is another soft track, but it’s much less ambient than the previous two we’ve heard — “Cara Falsa” and “Vistate.” The smooth track again finds Roberto Carlos Lange (Helado Negro) taking the lead over a jazzy, melodic bass and soft horns, while Barwick adds guitar, vibraphone and breathy backup vocals.

OMBRE’s debut album, Believe You Me, comes out August 27 on Asthmatic Kitty.

OMBRE – “Vistate”

OMBRE - Believe You MeJulianna Barwick and Helado Negro have teamed up as OMBRE, and as you might expect, the duo has come up with some mind-blowing stuff.

The first single, “Cara Falsa,” was led by Barwick’s incredible ethereal vocals, while Helado Negro, aka Roberto Carlos Lange, supplied a hypnotic march.

“Vistate,” the latest song from the album, focuses on the ambient. Lange lays down gentle vocals over the soft beat and echoing tones. It’s enthralling, and you’ll easily find yourself lost in the music.

Believe You Me is out August 21 via Asthmatic Kitty.

OMBRE – “Cara Falsa”

OMBRE - Believe You MeAsthmatic Kitty labelmates Julianna Barwick and Helado Negro have been collaborating as OMBRE. The experimental/outer-sound dream team is readying its first album, Believe You Me.

“Cara Falsa,” the first track from the album, is exactly what you’d expect from the pair — and it’s perfect. Barwick’s ethereal vocals float over an ocean of ambient and electronic production. It’s beautiful and expansive, but the vocals and percussion keep it from drifting too far.

OMBRE is the latest in the ever-growing list of sideprojects for Roberto Carlos Lange, aka Helado Negro. He just released a new album, Foot Signal, with Matt Crum as ROM, in addition to a steady stream of solo material.

Believe You Me comes out August 27 on Asthmatic Kitty.
